A fabric produced in katazome technique, 100% cotton. White chrysanthemum in full bloom on the indigo background. Recommended for summer kimono - yukata, western clothes or interior decoration. Sold in running meters or 12 m long bolts.
Kiku - chrysanthemum symbolizes longevity and rejuvenation. Specially appreciated in Japan as an Emblem of the Emperor and the Imperial Family. It appears on the Japanese passports and the 50 yen coin.
The offered fabric was made in Japan in the 50-60-ies of 20th century. Never used, with small signs of wear.
Katazome is the traditional technique of textile dyeing using katagami templates. It requires extraordinary skills and precision, up to now hand made by a few specialists. More about that in the „technique” tab and in our blog.
