Ayame - iris blooms in a rainy season in Japan (the end of May - the beginning of June), announcing start of Summer. Due to its beauty used readily by artists, also at the kimono textiles. 

Ayame kwitnie podczas pory deszczowej w Japonii (koniec maja - początek czerwca), obwieszczając początek lata. Ze względu na swoja urodę kwiat chętnie przedstawiany przez artystów malarzy, również na kimonowych tkaninach.

The offered fabric comes from Hamamatsu city, Shizuka prefecture. This region is famous for green tea and yukata textiles production. It was made in one of few remained workshops. 

Katazome is the traditional technique of textile dyeing using katagami templates. It requires extraordinary skills and precision, up to now hand made by a few specialists. More about that in the „technique” tab and in our blog.
